Some basic stuff for your car:

1) Mark your battery earth cable with some yellow tape.

2) Fit a timing strut to the front

3) Fit a hand held fire extinguisher, not compulsory, but is a useful safety item.

4) Mark your cut off switch "On-OFF". You don't need a master cut off switch like this one. You can just mark your ignition switch in a similar way e.g. if you have the normal key switch on you column.

6) If you have external pull cables for a fire extinguisher or electric cut off (not compulsory) you need to have them marked

7) Fit some door squares for your numbers. You will also need to display your championship stickers. For the old ford class you will need to register in the Midland Speed Championship, www.midlandspeed.org.uk (http://www.midlandspeed.org.uk) & display their sticker on your car to score points

usually yes, quite a few sprint competitors get sign writers to attach them to magnetc back grounds so you can fit then remove them at will

You have to make one to the dimensions in the blue book. A simple piece of ally will do or if you want to be flash make it from carbon fibre. If you are using your car on the road make sure you take it off. The police have a bit of a dim view of people who leave their timing struts on, same goes for competition numbers.

Worth noting guys that the dimensions of the timing struts have changed in the MSA regs. Not much bigger so if you make them slightly bigger than was necessary you'll be fine but it's important.

Can't remember the new measurements off-hand though.
