Depending on whether your car is roadgoing or non-roadgoing you will need the following:

1) Roadgoing. An MOT certificate, a logbook issued by the DVLA & a tax disc displayed in the windscreen.
2) Non-roadgoing an MSA logbook. This logbook is issued by the Motorsports association which you will need to apply for & obtain before your first event. To do this you will need to contact a local scrutineer or official and arrange for them to inspect the car. They check for things like eligible roll cage design, harnesses, seats, fuel tank & plumbing & record the general specification of the car. For this you will need to pay a small fee & supply a photo of your car. The details of you car are then recorded on the MSA database & you'll then receive a paper document, the Logbook.

Here's some pictures of the MSA logbook

Register for the Midland Speed Championship & obtain a championship registration card. You will need to present this card at all events when you sign on.

Join an MSA afiliated club. I have joined the Westfield Sports Car Club because it opens doors to all sorts of events & championships. The club is invited to participate in many of the events on the Midland Speed Calendar & other events too.

Get your national B non-race competition license. Apply to the MSA, The Motorsports Association Ltd, Motorsports House, Riverside Park, Colnbrook, Slough. SL3 OHG Tel 01753 765000, www.msauk.org (http://www.msauk.org)

This is what a competition license looks like. I've got a rally license which is also a Natonal B license. To do speed events you just need a Non-Race National B license

Is this simply a question of filling it in and sending it off or do you need to sit a test?

hello everyone. I've just added my name to the list to enter and so forgive me if I'm going over old ground ...... when would we need to enter the Midland Speed Championship?? I'm assuming that this will need to be done over the winter for the new season next year??? Perhaps someone can let me know.

Thanks.

Yes the calendar for 2007 will be published soon & most things happen after Christmas regarding registering for the championship. However, it is worth you getting in touch with the championship co-ordinator, John Phoenix now to get yourself on a mailing list. Visit here & have a browse to find the info you need. http://www.midlandspeed.org.uk/
