Hi
Any one give me some help understanding the blue book regs
If i was to run a escort mk1 with a 5 linked rear end would this put me into Sports Libre ,
as Modified production class says 12.8.2. the original type of suspenion must be maintained
which would put me in with the big boys:dunno:

You can just use a helper/false leaf spring to comply with regs................Search for "Mrjimbo" s race car thread,it explains it in there.
5 links are ok, but you need to keep the leaf springs

Just read all the Mrjimbos race car thread ,nice car he has too am looking to join the Nottingham sprint club
could just run then if i get some probs with the 5 link may be ok seem a bit some times ok some times not then just add spring as well
cheers
It depends what part of the country you are competing in
I've competed in Sprints and Hillclimbs (in the Old Ford Sprint Championship) since 2007, the first 2 years in Fly which is 5 linked with leafs on most of the Midland Speed Championship rounds and then last year with Dvy which is 5 linked with Coil Overs, mainly at Loton Park, Shelsley Walsh and Prescott
Haven't had any problems so far, but I know if I went to Gurston Down in the South West with a 5 linked car I would be put into Sports Libre and I've read of Jim's problems elsewhere
I could fit leafs to Dvy without any problems, but one of my main rivals at Loton runs a Mk1 Escort which is 5 linked with Coil Overs so there's not much point
If you're in Nottingham then your closest venue is probably Curborough and I'm sure you won't have any trouble there
As for the Road Modified Class, I think you need to have the original engine block, cylinder head, gearbox casing and axle casing which stops most rally cars, but for Modified Production you just need the original block for the vehicle (or something that looks similar such as a 205 block) so a Cosworth is fine, but a Zetec, Duratec or non-Ford engine isn't allowed
