Former world champion Damon Hill is set to return to the cockpit of an F1 for the first time since his retirement. The 1996 champion will drive one of Minardi's two-seater cars at Donington Park on August 10/11 as part of Thunder in the Park II.
Hill will drive alongside seven other identical cars, two of which will be in the hands of current Minardi star Mark Webber and team principal Paul Stoddart. Passenger seats for the 12-lap demonstration race will be auctioned off to raise money for charity.
Last year's event was a huge success, and gained great publicity due to the appearance of Nigel Mansell. The 1992 world champion increased the event's profile still further by crashing his car of the final lap of the race. It is thought to be unlikely that Mansell will go head-to-head with his former team-mate.
The British rounds of the European F3000 and SuperKart Championships also feature on the Thunder in the Park bill.
