bolt an old brake disc onto the hub and give it some with a big hammer.
cheers lads. I'll try the disc idea, but i dont have an old ford disc will have to get one.
Peugeot or 4 stud Saab ones will do.
spring compressor inbetween the flange and shaft and whack it whilst under tension
Hexham and District Motorclub
Make a bracket that you can bolt to the shaft flange bolt on the inside. Then use a long bolt with a nut on the inside, in the hole of the flange with a big washer. Then you can tighten the bolt and it pulls the shaft out.
I had this problem and this works a treat!
It sounds difficult but if you can make sense of it, its perfect, no more hammering etc.!
i know what you mean sam, like an extractor type of tool? only thing it would be worried about is it pulling the threads out the the axle tubes.
what bracket would you have to make?

made this form various bits of tube, an oversize slide hammer
took a good few hard slides to finally shift it
nice! bet that worked well.
You just need to tighten it a tiny bit and then tap the other side of the flange wth a hammer. Then wind the bolt 1/2 a turn again and hit the other side. Keep going and it'll come out piece of piss.
Easily the best way after i struggled for ages with slide hammers etc.
Just a plate that is wide enough for the bolt to push against.
