    Question MOVED - Cosworth Question?

I probably should have posted this here instead of the members lounge.

Since I am in the states we don't get to see the cosworth engines here. Is there any difference between the Cosworth block and the standard SOHC Pinto block?

The reason for the question is that IF I decide to build a cossie for my American Pinto would I need just the head or would I need to get the whole engine?

The cosworth 205 block is stronger than a pinto block, and the cosworth motorsport 200 block is even stronger you can find out which block you have as they have 205 0r 200 stamped onto the side of the block
Ive heard blocks from transits can be good as well

if your only going to 300-350bhp i see no reason not to use a normal sohc bottom end,

infact back in the age of the dynosaurs vizards was building 500bhp turbo sohc engines, hi only real comment on bottom end stength is block distortion sets in big time at about 400bhp

Pistons, rods, crank and flywheel are different aswell plus loads if other little parts

also if your talking about the 2300cc SOHC block you get in the states that's different from our pinto block, I think it's taller but you may be able to use it in somekind of larger capacity cosworth but I don't know

The block I have is a 1972 2.0 SOHC pinto and not the 2.3 LIMA. The 2.3 was not availible until1974.

Thanks to all, I think that answers my question. It would just cost to much to have an entire engikne shippid to California. I was hoping to get away with just the top end.

    Cheers!
