Modifed mk1 insurance.

hi,

Even though I don't own one (yet), i've been trying to get insurance quotes for a 1972 mk1 escort with engine modifications (twin carbs, exhaust manifold) and its impossible. The average insurer will simply not insure me. Adrian Flux said they don't insure anyone under 19, and I just got a letter from Footman James stating the car is an escort RS and that they will not insure anyone on it under 25.

any suggestions?

Unfortunately, that isn't really an option

Its just, I read somewhere a bog standard escort 1300 has a 0-60 of about 19 seconds. Am I right?

Please help me get insured!

Depends on what revision of the 1300 you have in. IIRC the slowest one is circa 18sec, then it went to around 15 and If you have the 1300GT motor around 0-60 came up in 13.5sec
