Dunno if you knew or not but have you seen the new deal from Cornhill Insurance??

For £31.50 you can insure your license against getting a driving ban. They will provide a taxi to and from work for the duration of your ban should the worse happen! It cost £42 if you have more than 3 points tho. Also if you have over 6 they shy away altogether.

Unbelievable! Thinking of taking it up Dave, no chance of a ban for me at the mo though, no car and the Mrs' Rover only get to 65mph down a hill!

its only if you get banned for this spefic offence ! so I read it as if you have 3 points for a blad tyre then you aint covered ? is that right ?

"Disqualification from driving following a speeding offence under Section 89 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or from the accumulation of 12 points or more for speeding under Section 35 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988."

So if the worse does happen, you pay £31.50 to be driven to work in a taxi for x amount of time, and have to walk everywhere else.
hmmm dont really see what is so good about that

Clint - You're quite right, it's the small print you have to watch. I'll bet (can't be arsed to read it at the mo) it excludes you for certain offences (Drink D & Danger D etc..)

Slim - It'd be good for me as my commute is c.80 miles a day!

Personally - If I was an insurer and saw someone taking this cover out it's like an admission of "Yes I break the law and one day expect to get caught". I know of several firms that have been offering it for over a year, and I imagine with the number of Grey "cashboxes" being stuck up at the side of the road inevitably this sort of cover is going to become really popular.

I think I might start a cab firm and then set up an agreement with one of these insurers - Ker ching, Ker ching!
