ipod not working ?

Should an ipod be able to play music through a pc ? I have two pc's but neither will play any tunes from it

What socket are you using to connect the iPod to on the PC? Mic or line in I assume?

it's much easier to connect it via a USB lead and use iTunes (or something that doesn't suck quite as hard) to play the music stored on it.

I connect it with the same lead as my iphone via usb. I get a popup to say connected but can't see any music files ?

You need to use the little program I linked to in my last post. When you connect the ipod to a PC it treats it like a hard drive, you need the software to interpret the iPod's file system properly!
