Is there a problem with my laptop?? Seems like recently (5-6weeks) Some threads seem to have huge photo's takes an age to load then they sort of re size to a reasonable size...Some threads I dont even read as I know Im In for a wait lol I dont think Its my laptop as It happens on a pc I use at work aswell...Getting cheesed off with It now Is It my computer or do I need to get my classic ford fix elsewhere??

There are two issues.
The first is that people put ridiculously big pictures on here that take up lots of space and take an age to load.
Second issue is that I don't know how to limit it. I have tried but haven't got there yet.
The resizing after it has loaded thing you talk of is some recent software included to the site to try and get around part of the problem, but as you say it isn't a right lot of help when you still have to load the pic.

If everyone resizes their pics first to 800 width or so, we won't have a problem. Meantime we are trying to sort it.

Perhaps my photo's come out large on other peoples pc's??

When pictures are posted onto TS they automatically get uploaded to the TS server too.

Can you not resize them when they are uploaded to the server?

If you use Tapatalk on your phone they automatically get resized.

I am no IT wizard by any means but I think I might have done that now.
In the admin control panel there are dozens of buttons to press and settings to alter. I still don't know what half of them do and I am a bit scared of changing some stuff tbh.
I am still finding things that I can actually do that I didn't know about. Resetting maximum size of attachments is a recent trick I learned.

b. people complain and the poster learns to resize prior to posting.

We tried that.
Then we put the resizer in because people still posted ginormous pics and we got complaints. We complained ourselves for that matter.

Just a note to those people that do put stupidly big pics on, nobody looks at them because they take too long to load.
Put normal size pics on and we will look at them.

But that said ,people who take time to post threads which include pics to show or help others may not know how to resize or even have the info upstairs on how to do it. Pixels and kbs to some is like Би ойлгохгүй байна thats Mongolian

So one of the photo techs needs to do a how to thread with some links to where and how this may be done

Phil, you can right click a photo in windows in your ''my photos'' document or where ever you keep them & you have the option to resize it you can't get much more simple than that IMO

that's in addition to the many small & free photo/jpeg resizing programs you can download/use.

there are threads on here that i know contain these big photos & i won't look at them simply because it takes so long to load or they are that big [dimensions & file size] that they just lock the pc up!!

mmmm....Just tried posting a pic and It was massive...so using normal windows gallery how do I resize anyone know??

Dave gave me a very good tip.

In that you can resize your pics with "paint" which most pc's have in their system somewhere.
I thought to myself yea that sounds easy "NOT"!

But actually it worked really well and surprisingly easily even for me, when I was
trying to do it for something.

There are always going to be folk that can't be arsed to piddle about resizing pics, same as there will be folk that claim they don't know how to use the uploader and can't be arsed to read stickies or use the search button.

Sorts it all out for you. I have suggested the uploader be turned off so you just have to use this instead.

Mine looked fine when previewed then when submitted appeared huge they don't bother loading half the time I'd love it if I was allowed to change the pics for my now resized ones Ive got after learning how to do it

Try it Ratters, it is pretty good. Can do from pc or from url.
It takes a while if you do massive pics but will resize in the process, resize first and it is quick.

Worth mentioning that in Photobucket which is free to have, you can select it to resize your pictures as it uploads them, so it uploads them into the smaller size saves you messing about resizing them, then uploading them.

That's what i do

9 times out of 10 it is the Photobucket pictures that don't show up.
Use the above method and you can use pics straight from your pc or you can click on the other tab to paste a url in.
Pasting the url of your photobucket pic for eg.

I am going to assume everybody knows what a url is and if you don't, then google it.
