Just for a laugh
For a joke @ work - Is it possible to hide all the desktop icons in windows 98, if so how? (tho must be quickly rectifiable just incase the boss walks in

Not sure if you can do it on 98 (can't rememebr). if you can it'd be with a system policy, which isn't that quickly reversible without 3rd party tools.

Had a thought - if you haev access to the computer you could get rid of most of them just by highlighting them then using cut (Ctrl x) and then pasting them (Ctrl v) into another folder. this is easily reversible - just past them back on to the desktop but wouldnt' get shot of my computer, outlook (if installed), recycle bin and internet explorer cos they're not proper icons as such.

piece of piss, just click and drag a box round em and shove em all off the side of the screen, to get em back just right click and set em to "auto arrange" (you need to switch that off before tyou can move em) and they'll magically come back.

Re: Just for a laugh
one of my old tricks, that and going into windows appearence settings and setting everything to black, dont try that unless you can undo it without being able to see what your doing though!!!!

Could also do a Print screen before you move em and create a wallpaper file. Then as another jape move the icons as before but will still look as though they are there but won't work

Re: Just for a laugh
Take a screenshot of your desktop then hide the icons. Set the screenshot as your wallpaper and he will be clicking on the background thinking its the icons

I love to crap
Re: Just for a laugh
and right click on the icons, go to the target of what its a shortcut to and change each one to a different program
