Why does the press ignore motorsport so much Richard was so young, in the middle of his career, and was world champion, and he hardly get a mention on TV

Mr Best who drunk himself to an early grave, but still made it to a pretty good age of 59 gets none stop news coverage. (no disrespect and yes it is still sad)

    Re: Rchard Burns

Very sad news indeed. Strange to think that when I saw him in Castle Combe in August I thought (even though he didn't look terribly well) that maybe he was on his way up because he was putting in a public appearance...when in reality he only had a very short time left. Just shows the courage and determination of the man right up to the last....

A tragedy for his family and friends...and a great loss to the sport.

    Re: Rchard Burns

Really sad this. I knew that it was coming, but it doesn't make it any less sad. I don't know if this had been mentioned earlier in the thread (just having a quick look) but if you remember back to when Richard was first taken ill, it was Marko Martin who was in the car with him, on the way to (i think) the Rally GB.

And who was driving the car in which Beef Park was killed, on the Rally GB a few weeks back?

I really feel for Marko, first that and now this.... I bet there's some soul searching going on.

I'm just about old enough to remember when Richard was still making his way up through the ranks of British rallying - when McRae was about at his peak, Richard was the 3rd seat occassionally as Prodrive, and people were saying at the time - "this kid's gonna be world champ" They were right - but its just a bit sad he didn't get to stay at the top very long
