Any 1 know if this is asbestos lagging?

Garage was built around 1968
Lagging is around outside garage water pipes 15mm

Has a plastic wrap aroung fiber's

Did not think asbestos came in any form other than solid , scratch that I think old industrial ovens had asbestos seals on them but they look more ropey with a cross weave pattern. Yours looks like old fashioned fibre lagging. Put a mask on and gloves on cut a tiny bit off and try to burn it. if it is asbestos it won't burn at all. Better still call a pro in to assess it to make sure. I got some asbesto bits and the council will take it away for £61, so job done. Safety first!

wet it first,this will at least stop any particles getting into the air.i don't think it looks like asbestos either,i recently took out something similar from a loft.

asbestos lagging is like plaster. that looks to me a bit like fibreglass lagging maybe?

wear a decent mask 2 b sure tho. u never know.

Dodgy advice all of the above, just written a report on asbestos (not that im saying that makes me an expert), just because it may look like rockwool doesnt mean it is. Asbestos comes in 3 mains types and can be anything from sheets to a spray applied coating so not nessecarily (sorry spelling) appearing to be flakey, if i were you id leave it well alone and get someone in, if you have all ready removed it, wet it through to minimise air-bourne particles and put it in clear plastic bags, you may need a licence to dispose of it at a tip. The fact its plastic coated implies even more that asbestos may be present.

Better to be safe than sorry IMO!

Viz style top tip... Breath a big handful of it in and wait 15 years. If after this period you become easily short of breath and weaze a lot... Then its probably asbestos.

Or just ring the Enviromental Health if you are in a Hurry.
