My Office - With pics !!!Hi Folks,
With it being such a nice day today and me being one of the only people on the platform that can take pictures I turned my lenses away from my usual vessles and pipework.
For those that dont know what I do for a lving I am an Offshore Inspection Engineer employed by LLoyds Register. Keeps me out of trouble, just!!
SO here are some views from my office...

MY daily life looks pretty much like a lot of your 'hobby' lives...ie..head under a bonnet

I am still at work as I lok into this site, in fact am in my office just now. But its time I went and watched some tele me thinks. I will be in my bed in 45 seconds, not a bad commute!

Work in a cold store most of the time, the drystore has a good view when theres a storm, all the waves crashing against the side of the factory

faster shutter speeds give crisper pics, but need good light etc etc
i work all over, these three were all taken while i was working, phone pics so quality not great though.

Yes mate, they lok real nice just now with all the snow on top of them. There are full panormic views from here of the whole of Liverpool Bay, right upto Morcambe, back down to North Wales and then accross to Isle of Man the other way. Much better than the North Sea where you see nowt but Seals and Gulls!!Nice view of the hills.

I have done rope access work before, not quite as high at this picture but some retty good views from some of the jobs! Being at the end of a flare tower is pretty fun, or at the top of a large Frac Tower, they swing in the wind which you cant see from the ground!!heres what i do..pays the bills

the big round bit on the bottom right of the pics is actually an ice rink in the winter (and beach volleyball court amongst other things in the suimmer

I have also worked in coldstores on the past, it still feels weird when your nose freezes shut when you breathe!
Yeah, canny pond but it gets a tad chopy at times and you most definately dont want to dangle your feet in it!
I also work all over, all round the world in fact. I will have to dig out some random ald shots of various countries some time? Worked on many ships also.
Not likely to be the height that gets you as you wear a harness, also deepness of water is no worry. Its the cold that will get ya!
You are not allowed a beard offshore mate, so you will be fine! All to do with escape breathing equipment in the event of an emergency. If you collapse then it endangers othes that have to go back and look for you.
I have also worked in some shit offices with no views at all, does your head in during the summer. But then again, its better than the views of a dole que!
Not a large ship as such but officially it is classed as one and has a captain. Its what is know as a semi-sub, the legs jack up and down to secure it to the sea bed. Then when its done the legs go back up and it floats away to its next position, under its own power. You will notice in the pics that its in two different locations?
I am currently working on the Douglas Platform, part of the asset belonging to BHP Billiton.
I do have some stormy pics some place, but normally if its bad then you cant go outside for fear of being blown over the side. I have seen waves bigger than a house before, not nice!
A tiolet would be right nice just now, but thats another story and happens at this time every day.
As above, yes the mountains are in North Wales, a top part of the country that gets slagged off by a lot of Welsh, but has top real nice areas. Mostly bits the Scouse smack heads (no offense to good scouse) havnt found yet... LOL

No views of my office, but I have got this pic I was sent a few years ago by a chap explaining why he couldn't make it to a trackday - some guff about the helicopters being grounded and the supply boats not being able to get close

STu, I have seen waves that actually hide the full standby boat completly. It gets pretty rough at times and just wonder how the hell the lads on them boats manage to do anything at all in it??

summer is excellent, yes.
