x2 looking forward to the painted finish
Little update, (sorry about the shocking phone pics!).
prepped the struts: Drilled out the bottem hole that locates the inserts and re-tapped to an m10 fine for my short tarmac spec bilstein inserts. Added wedged strengthening plates, and also came up with some mounting brackets that have been TIG welded to the strut for mounting the brake ducting. Now all painted/lacquered in black ready to be built up with the billet aluminium hubs/ Hi Spec calipers, inserts, springs/helper springs and steering arms.
Also got the engine into the garage on the engine mount ready for cleaning up. Gonna check the bottom end to ensure that the ARP Rod bolts were put in properly. Put a competition head gasket in, some vernier cams and put the exhaust cam back in after modifying for distributorless ignition. Clean & strip carbs, paint block and stick it all back toghether ready for when the car arrives.
Took the split rims apart (even roped in the girlfriend.lol). Outers are going off for polishing, inners to be painted.
Getting there now!

What's your secret? How did you get your girlfriend to clean the rims
I'm not sure you should be asking someone how they get their girlfriend to rim them.
Great build,im loving the rear difuser! i want one
Sneeky peek!!!!
Ok, lots happened. Front struts built up and ready to go on the car. Axle is going off to fostek for LSD setup.
Engine is being put back togeather and cams are currently at QED being re-profiled.

Thanks for the kind comments chaps. I'm so please with it!
It's a noble colour, (titanium grey). Not sure what colour to do the centres of the split rims. What do you think?? Gold or Black?
Outers have just gone off to image for polishing!

Oh, and yes Joe. They're brand new from gartrac. They're the aluminium extra wide monte carlo tarmac arches
I love em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The way to my heart: German and RWD!!
Got to stay gold mate
They look well on my silver one so no reason why they wont look fine on yours being grey, plus it keeps them more original looking if you get what i mean
Me too, i have already polished them myself but theres some water oxidisation marks in them and i cant be arsed
They've said around £20 per outer (5" & 4"). So we'll see???

Did you buy matts wheels back or some of the rfx's?
I bought my bro's old wheels back, that originally appeared on SBD's first racing westfield
Still working away.
Rims are back from image after polishing and I'm well chuffed with the results. They look as good as I could have hoped! Engine is getting there. QED cams in, head torqued up water pump/oil pump/thrmostat etc all on. Painted cam cover with crinle paint. Made up a carbon plug cover etc. Just need to put on carbs and a few other bits and then it's ready prety much to drop in. Bought a tran-x type 9 which should be here next week. Should start bolting suspension on and wheels together soon.
Getting there!

I wouldn't have been so sparing with the assembly paste though personally!
Car's still moving along nicely. Plan is to try to have it on it's wheels with the engine and box in by Christmas!
Anyways, I am now the proud owner of a type 9 gearbox with straight cut tran-x internals. Engine just needs timing and a few odds + sods. Everything that's bare metal basically has been plated, and where possible powder coated. Prety much all of the front end is on now including arb's. Wheel centres now ready for paint and then can be bolted togeather. I've ordered new seals for them from compomotive.
Now need to sort the rear end out. Everythings ready but ther axle. That should be going off to fostek in around a weeks-two weeks time to be built up and have the LSD set-up.
Few carbon bits starting to show their faces. Lots lots more to come.
Enjoy.

paint does look good on that. loving the bolt on bits looking all bolted on
great job mate keep it up
Lovely work, you should have said about the wheel seals earlier, iirc they are £5 each or per wheel from them but you can buy the o ring cord on ebay and make them yourself for a couple of quid, thats what i did
