Difficult to say since it comes down to personal preference more than anything.
You know my ten fave already since they're on my site.

Re: The biggie
mr blobby?
no seriously, its got to be one of these:
john lennon - imagine
pink floyd - shine on you crazy diamond
the doors - moonlight drive
the beatles - hey jude
stone roses - she bangs the drums
there are tracks with better music, but the question is what is the best song.

Re: The biggie
All absolutely fantastic songs. i think 'imagine' was voted song of the century wasnt it? i've not even cut it down to a 'short' list, but i still have:
The Eagles - hotel california
Procul Harum - whiter shade of pale
Led Zeppelin - stairway to heaven
The Who - Pinball Wizard
and LOADS more all at group stage at the minute! I'll whittle it down.

Re: The biggie
mine tops them all, it has to be without a shadow of a doubt
"blinded by the light" by manfred mann's earth band
failing that its a toss up between
"riders on the storm" by the doors
or "shes not there" carlos santana version
although the original by the zombies is still good
i'll keep thinkin tho

Re: The biggie
hey any pink floyd fans - saw the australian pink floyd last month at the cambridge corn exchange and its just like the real thing - the sound quality and lighting show is amazing. comfortably numb is the last song and it makes your hair stand on end. if they touring near you they are deffo worth a visit. they have all the authentic sound effects - its a well polished act.
another few songs for the list - slayer - mandatory suicide and seasons in the abyss, metallica - enter sandman, queen - boe rhap, new order - blue monday, joy division - love will tear us apart, happy mondays - rave on

Re: The biggie
Well, if we're going to dip into the classical basket, then Prokofiev's Montague's & Capulet's must get a mention...not least because it shall now forever be known as the theme to "Mark On Ice"! Also sling in Bizet's Prelude To Carmen and Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries.
Also forgot to mention that Cast - Sandstorm is hella-cool. Maybe the best Cast track ever.
-
The Great Houdini
Re: The biggie
By the way Steve, if i can get hold of more footage of RWD or fourby cars being driven enthusiastically, then the next piece of music will be Bizet's Prelude To Carmen.
Trust. It'll go.
(I think they play the Prelude To Carmen on Formula 1, for the podium champers, don't they?)

Re: The biggie
